About Kamboca

Simon Babucarr Jatta alias Junior Gander aka Kamboga was born and brought up in Fajikunda (Sere-kunda East) February 1988. This young reggae dancehall singjay started singing at an early age in the Faji-kunda parish church choir in 1998, he then took up music as a career in the year 2000 and recorded his first single entitled “Life is hard” in the year 2010.

Growing up in Fajikunda he gained his main source of inspiration from Gambia’s International reggae star Dr. Olugander alias Abukpapa who also hails from the same town, thus the name JUNIOR GANDER is derived from Senior Gander whom he looked up to as a mentor and God Father in the music arena.

At a young age he discovered his mission as a musician following Olugander where ever he goes for performances, singing his songs line by line, defending him as the champion in the country in terms of arguments with his colleagues in the neighbourhood and at school. Thus the people started calling him Junior Olugander.

He is a fisherman and farmer as he joins his father on fishing trips and farming. A technician with lots of ideas for studio production as well.

He has performed and shared stage with lots of big names in the country and his stage performances are always hot and entertaining. He attended St. Charles primary, latrikunda Sabiji upper basic and kairaba Senior Secondary school.

He won the award for best performance of the year 2013 at the Fajikunda (FK) youth center organised by Ultimate media and was rewarded with a free video entitled “HAM NA LEN” in wollof meaning ” I KNOW THEM” a song that talks about his foes as he trod along in the journey of life and music.

He’s got a lot of singles recorded ranging from “Money & Fame” a collabo with Olugander, “I wonder why”  “Give me your love”  “ In my journey” “Pretenders” “Life of I don’t care” etc. His album is under production to be produced by GANDER’S PRODUCTION A charity and music label that looks after both Olugander Senior & Junior in The Gambia.
