Racism not only confined to US, Middle East also

I am Asya Gashi, a well-known singer born in Kosovo and now live in Istanbul.

As a woman of the world, I was very upset after the killing of George Floyd and indifference many have shown to the BLM movement.

It is time the spotlight shines on anyone who is racist so they will no longer be above the law.

As mentioned in a recent LA Times article

This racism is not only confined to the US but also is rampant in the Middle East as many blacks are used as labor and largely considered second class citizens.

I am hoping my video brings some attention to this problem since racism is unfortunately everywhere and by bringing attention I hope the governments in this region consider that everyone is human and deserves dignity.

I would love to discuss this with you further and explain my motivation to invest in this project as well as the problems I see in the region which are especially acute because of limits on free speech compared to the US.

I hope in the end if you can help me in posting this video so that more can be aware of this large, but largely unreported problem so we can finally see change.

Because in the end we are one world and one people, and by showing that this problem is systemic to many societies we can slowly move the discussion in the right direction so everyone can be treated equally.

My video and background are linked here

If you have time next week I would happy to tell you about the problems black people face in the Middle East.

ASYA GASHİ

I am Asya Gashi..

A singer from Kosova..

I live in Turkey İstanbul..

With my last song and video clip l just wanted to give a massage to the world.

#Black Lives Matter

Which l believe all people born in this world is equal.

Today every part of the world we see people is humiliated because of their colors.

I believe human rights…

I never classify people with their colors…

If someone has the idea that one’s own race is superior and has the right to dominate others for me is a sick person..

I believe one world one heart..

While l am working on my song l think of the people in Middle East in USA and all over the world who has problems and attack ‘cause of racist people..

I stay 7 hour in the coffin during shooting in set..

Singing..

Acting..

But every minute thinking all black people at the same time..

And I wanted to scream:

All people equal..

No race

No color

One heart one love..

If l can be able to give this message to the world with my song, I am the happiest person forever…
