23 lawmakers asked to immediately return allocated plot of lands in New Yundum

The speaker and twenty-two [22] national assembly members allegedly accused of being allocated with plot of lands in New Yundum have been asked to immediately return it with immediate effect.

According  to a statement made available to The Voice by  the New Yundum Village Committee the lawmakers allocated are namely; Mariam Denton Speaker of the national assembly, Alagie Drammeh NAM for Jeshwang, Foday  NM Drammeh NAM for Tumana, Kajali Fofana NAM Jarra West, Yaya Gassama NAM for Kinag East, Ya kumba Jaiteh Nominated member, Baba Galleh Jallow independent NAM for Sanimentering, Alhagie Sankung Jammeh NAM for Foni Jarol, Abdoulie Ceesay independent NAM For old Yundum, Alfusainey Ceesay NAM FOR Sami District, Madi MK Ceesay NAM for Sere Kunda West, Momodou Ceesay NAM for Janjanbureh, Omar Ceesay NAM for Niamina East,  Fakabary  NL Colley NAM for Kiang West, Lamin Conta NAM for Kombo East, Alagie S Darboe NAM for Brikama North, Omar Darboe independent Upper Nuimi, Sunkary Badjie NAM for Foni Brefet, Kebba K Barrow for South, Amadou Camara NAM for Nianija,  Bakary Camara for Kiang Central, Demba KM  Camara NAM for Illiasa, Kaddy Camara for Foni Bondali, Momodou Camara for Foni Bintang.

According to the statement obtained the lawmakers’ names were shared by New Yundum community in a document after the community allegedly accused the government of allocating the plot of lands to the lawmakers.

When contacted by The Voice Newspaper, Madi MK Ceesay NAM for Sere Kunda West said the land was allocated to him as Gambian citizen by the government and all citizens have the right to be allocated with land.

“ I am not returning land to anyone, I am Gambian and I was allocated with a land like other citizen”,  he told The Voice.
