4H The Gambia gives sanitary materials to youth clubs, schools

4H The Gambia, a Farefenni-based non-governmental organisation has distributed 40 tanks of hand washing and sanitary materials to youth clubs in North Bank and Central River Regions respectively.

The organisation also distributed the materials to 16 Lower Basic Schools and Mosques to help control the spread of COVID-19. The presentation was held in Farafenni over the weekend.
Alieu Ceesay, National Director for 4H The Gambia said the support would help to strengthen club’s capacity.

He commended partners in Norway for their invaluable support to the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. Director Ceesay called on youths to be vigilant and support the fight and ensure people adopt best hygienic practices.

Fatou Bah, finance and administrative officer of 4H said the support to 65 clubs in both NBR and CRR would help young people to lead hygienic practices. As part of strengthen public awareness. Also, a radio talk show was held at Paradise FM and Community Radio in partnership with Health Promotion at Regional Health Directorate in Farafenni.

The talk show program on radio will be extended to North Bank Community Radio in Kerewan.
Awa Jarju Program Officer NGO Affairs in Kerewan noted that the participation of Civil Society Organisations in the fight against COVID-19 is crucial in complementing government efforts.

She noted that the fight against COVID-19 calls for concerted efforts and thanks 4H Gambia for their support.
