Foundation Kalilu Jammeh extends largesse to vulnerable families amid of Covid-19

Foundation Kalilu Jammeh and partners in Spain Wednesday donated 25 bags of rice, 32 gallon of 5litres to most vulnerable families in Upper Badibou, North Bank Region.

The food assistance was part of the foundation’s response to the fight against Covid-19. The beneficiary communities included Girom, Jalaba, Yallal Tankonjala, Alkali Kunda and Jumansar Koto.

Kalilu Jammeh the Founder and CEO of Foundation Kalilu Jammeh said the foundation provides to the needy in different areas which include education, agriculture and to the Orphans.

He disclosed that there are available opportunities in the community to help address irregular and rural urban migration, citing Eco tourism which will help the youth to stay and create job for youth and women in agriculture.

He went further explained that his foundation emergency respond on Covid-19 aimed to support most vulnerable families during this trying situation to help comply with State of public health Emergency.

He reiterated that the food package is part of strong partnership with partners in Spain to complement government drive to control the spread of the pandemic.

Despite the foundation principal focus which centered on orphans, he said the pandemic remains a global concern and partners in Spain are very much concerned on the lockdown for vulnerable families.

He therefore used the opportunity of the presentation to informed the communities of their ongoing activities to attain food self sufficiency. This he said include establishment of 400×800 banana, orange farms and vegetable gardens with access to water capacity of 100,000 litres. This he said has enabled many youths and women to take up agriculture to attain food self-sufficiency.

Kalilu Jammeh thanked Ministry of Health for Memorandum of Understanding between them, noting that this has helped the partners in Spain to designed appropriate intervention to provide much needed support to health facilities in Upper Badibou.

Fatou Jammeh of Girom attested to his statement saying the banana farm has empowered women and youths to learn new skills. She noted that the Foundation contributed to human resource development and allowed youths to participate in production.
