SASS Cosmetology and skills Training Academy on Saturday graduated 37 as fifth badge in cosmetology since its establishment in 2014.

Speaking at the ceremony, Adam Touray Bah, director of SASS Cosmetology & Skill Academy said: “We are all aware that young people between 15 to 29 years of age make up about a quarter of world’s population, yet they constitute almost half of the world’s unemployment.”

She said vocational and skill training play a very important role in providing and preparing youths, especially girls and young women.

Not all of us are meant to sit in an office and have university degrees pushing paper, she said.

Mrs. Touray Bah advice the graduants by telling them, “as you prepare for the beginning of the rest of your lives, anything is possible when you believe in Allah and in yourself, step into the future with a prayer in your heart and you will soon reap the fruits of your effort.”

“Be the hardest working person you know because if you are not someone else will, you can’t control how smart you are but you can control in your life how hard you work,” she told the graduants.

Haddy Njai, Rep. of Senegalo-Gambia Women Association, advice the students to practicalise their skills nationally and internationally adding that “so that you can encourage fellow young people to acquire the same skills as well”.

Once you learnt a skill, it’s yours forever no one can take it away from you, she added.

“you can make it here in the Gambia with your skills without going abroad,” she said.

However, certificates where distributed to all the graduands.
