GTBoard Director Pledge to Resolve D21million Ninki Nanka Saga

Director General of Gambia Tourism Board (Gtboard) Abdoulie Hydara has vowed to resolved long standing D21million saga Ninki Nanka project, in Janjanbureh Central River Region.

Lars Birksoe Sorensen, Penilla Birksoe are Danish nationals who invested more than twenty one million dalasi (D21m) in Janjanbureh from 2008-2010 in a bit to construct one of the biggest Eco-Lodge in the area that will create job opportunities for more Gambian especially youths.

Danish appointed and trusted Alfusainey Barry as co-coordinator of the project, but unfortunately, Barry absconded with over D15mill cash of the funds and he is still on the run causing the project to fail.

“The Danish couples sold all their properties in Denmark and move to the Gambia to setup the project, but after Barry’s absconded with their money   left the country but mourn and shock leading to the psychological distress of Pennila Lars Sorrensen,”said a Gambians  that was also involve in the project,

“We are very willing and committed to help them resolve this issue. This will help in the rehabilitation of Pennila,” said Hydara.

According to him, the GTBoard has done everything possible to locate the couples to no avail, revealing that the authorities have invited the couples to series of meetings but no respond to the calls of the authorities.

“We have been trying to engage the couples to no avail. We have invited them during our last European tour but they failed to show up,” Hydara pointed out.

Essa Nyang, a security officer attached to Ninki Nanka said the absconding of Alfusainey Barry has disrupted the successful completion of the project, adducing that the fugitive has ruined the entire life of the couples scooping millions of dalasi away.

Nyang explained that Alfusainey Barry was aided by certain government officials of the former regime including Pa Bojang, a nephew to ex-President Yahya Jammeh.

“We are very disappointed and shock with the attitude of Alfusainey Barry. He has betrayed the trust and confidence.
