Coronavirus: Ministry of Health fortify nine entry points

Ministry of health has strengthened all nine entry points to The Gambia with equipment and prevention measure to protect the country from any case of coronavirus.

On Friday the minister health Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh and his met with the National Assembly select committee on health, to discuss the issue of coronavirus on how best preventive measures the ministry had taken to prevent the country.

Speaking to journalists,   Dr. Buba Manjah director of public health said as a ministry with a good leadership of minister of health they have reactivated the national health emergency respond community and secured entry points.

“We don’t have case but we concentrate on preventive measure so that we don’t have any case in the Gambia,” saying during the time of Ebola that helps as we reactive the structures that were in place before and   preventive measure are taken place he pointed out.

Dr. Manjah revealed that where the Coronavirus started, some individuals ate ate some animals like snake in China or any other animal and that caused or started virus.

“It doesn’t mean that all animals are infected but now the issue of coronavirus have been there in a different form and it keep changing as this one is new that’s why it is  mention as novel coronavirus,” he added.

He stated that they are concentrating on is transmission from human to human as every day’s update from WHO on number of death increases, adding “We fellow WHO guide line, update and the mode of transmission.”

Dr. Manjah “As a country we don’t have any case of coronavirus but that should not make us to relax saying we don’t have case but we have to reactivate our system to prevent our country.”

However, it has been confirmed that over 200 Gambian in China are free from the any case of
