Kundang villagers raise concern over Hippopotamus, Bush Pig destruction

Villagers of Kundang in the central river region have complaint about the continues destruction of hippocampus and bush pigs on their rice fields.

The villagers made the complaint to minister of agriculture Amie Fabureh during handing over of farming implements in CRR.

They said it is very dishearten that after all the hard labour that they underwent, and such unwarranted animals like bush pigs and hippopotamus come and destroy everything overnight.

According to them, community has contributed immensely for them not getting bumper harvest on yearly basics.

“This is unacceptable that the bush pigs and the hippopotamus are giving the right to destroy our entire rice field at our expenses. We want the government to intervene and ensure that mechanism is put in place to prevent these animals from destroying our rice fields.”

“The Government needs to consider our plight, since they are providing farming implements without preventing the bush pigs and hippopotamus there will be no improvement in rice production. One old man stated,” they said.

One of them also praised the minister of agriculture Hon. Amie Fabureh for the heart that she has for the farmers. She is always in contact with the farmers asking them their constraints and, challenges at the farm level. He also indicated that since after the appointment of Hon. Amie Fabureh farmers has detected many changes all gear toward boosting the agriculture mechanization.  We are proud of her and will continue to give her our weight on behalf of President Adama Barrow.

In respond to their concerns, the Governor of CRR Hon. Abba Sanyang and Honorable Amie Fabureh noted their concerns and assure to talk to the wildlife and surely their issues will be resolved very soon.
