GCCI Discusses Upcoming Trade Fair

The Gambia chamber of commerce GCCI has over the week briefed the media on the past achievements of the institution and including discussions on the upcoming trade fair to be organised this year. “With the theme partner to progress”

Speaking on behalf of the president of GCCI, Bajara Jabbie Chairman of the coming international trade fair said it is a tradition to invite the media and stakeholders by informing them on the achievements they made as an institution and including challenges during the year.

“GCCI continues to be the voice of private sector and to advocate for policy change for a more conducive business environment”, he said

He said GCCI has achieved a lot in 2019 through commitment of its board members, CEO and staff adding which has given the private business sector reliable environment to do their business and add to national development in terms of economy while stating that the institution since inception has been a major advocate for women.

He explained that, Gambia chamber of commerce and Industry is an active partner to Gender Equality Seal Certification Program under the UNDP and the She Trade initiative which he mentioned had assist improve their businesses and development initiatives.

“GCCI as an institution responsible for the promotion of trade in the country will continues to actively pursue its commitment in promoting youth involvement and engaging women for the advancement of national business sector”, he lamented.

He then further described the last year business Awards Dinner of the company as an opportunity for businesses to be recognized in their respective engagements and achievements adding that the institution in its effort to promote Start-up businesses has set up a start-up Chapter launched in April 2019.

“The main purpose of the Chapter is to support start-ups to scale-up and the challenges they faced in their initial phase of business”, he said

He said the Trade Fair international (TFGI) is the leading business exhibition event in the country which he said creates a platform for enterprises to network and promote their goods and services to their customers.

“The fair is the leading business exhibition in the country which has the potential of creating improvemzent of small scale businesses into major ones.” He said
