‘Operation 3Years Jotna’ Calls for Mass Protest with or Without Permit

Sheriff Ceesay, Senior Executive Member of Operation Three Years Jotna has called on Gambians to turn en-masse for the forthcoming protest slated for the 19th of January, 2020, revealing that the planned protest that is calling on President Adama Barrow to respect Coalition 2016 agreement and step-down as agreed will go ahead with or without permit.

Yesterday, the Inspector General of Police denied ‘Operation Three Years Jotna’ permit to embark on their planned 19th January protest, reasoning national security concerns among others for denying the movement the rights to protest.

“What we want the Gambian people and the Inspector General to understand is that, permit for a protest, is only necessary when you are going to use public address systems. We want them to understand that embarking on protest is a constitutional rights that should not be negated and for that been the case we will proceed with our planned protest with or without permit,” Ceesay reacted to latest move from the Office of the IGP.

He added: “All that we are appealing from our members is to desist from the use of public address system during our protest as stipulated in the laws. We are calling on every Gambian from Kartong to Koina to come out in numbers and asked Adama Barrow to step-down as agreed.”

Ceesay said this is the last opportunity for Gambians to use to end looming dictatorship and self-perpetuating rule in the country, adding that denying Three Years Jotna permit has been sanctioned by President Adama Barrow himself who want to negate the rights of Gambians to hold him accountable to his own words as agreed.

“If Gambians allow President Adama Barrow to rule more than the agreed time, we will ever regret for allowing him to stay on. It is the duty of every Gambian to come out on the 19th of January to demand President Adama Barrow to step-down in the interest of the country,” the top Three Years Jotna executive pointed out.

Ceesay also accused Gambia Government for witch-hunting top echelons of the group, disclosing that letters were sent from government to the Cooperative Union to see whether he was engaging in corrupt activities while he was working for this institution during the first republic.

He urged Gambians to defy all the treacherous threats and accusations leveled against Three Years and focus on the preparation for the planned protest, adding that if Gambians failed to keep President Adama Barrow to honor his words and protest on the 19th January, they should know that another dictator is born in The Gambia.

“Am calling on every patriotic Gambian to come out in our numbers to put an end to another looming dictator, if we failed to keep Adama Barrow to honour his own words let us know that another dictatorship will be born in The Gambia,” Sheriff Ceesay alleged.
