Nov. 11 Victim Widows Demands Justice

The wives soldiers killed on November 11, 1994 by leaders of military Junta have calls on The Gambia government by demanding justice for their love ones

Sunkary Yarboe, Mbaya Demba and Awa Njie widows of  late Basirou Barrow, Gibril Seye and Abdoulie Dot Faal respectively demands Sanna Sabally former Vice Chairman of the military Junta to produce the purported list that he alleged contain the names of soldiers to be killed by Lt. Barrow and Co on November 11, 1994.

The widows made their demands at the first anniversary after 25 years of killing their love ones on Monday in Kololi where join other victims’ families.

Sunkary Yarboe, first widow  of  late Basirou Barrow, said her husband and others were killed  by Yahya Jammeh and his men without committing any crime or found guilty of any crime labeled against them but were still ordered to be brutally killed.

“11th November is a day that I and   family will never forget and will continue to observe it to show respect to our love ones. Basirou Barrow and others were killed just to pave the ways for Yahya Jammeh and his inner-circle to launched tyranny and dictatorship in the country,”

My late husband was a very good personality with a very compassionate heart and character who cares for his family, friends and relatives. I strongly believe Basirou was killed because Yahya Jammeh and his Junta leaders fully knows he cannot play by their games to implanting tyranny and dictatorship”, said Sunkary Yarboe.

She added: I am disappointed in the testimonies of Sanna Sabally and Edward Singhateh for not accepting their crimes in the brutal murder of Basirou Barrow and others.  If the allegations against Basirou and other is anything to go by Sanna Sabally should produce the list that he said contain their names that Basirou and others has with them.

“I can say that both Sanna and Edward lied at the commission by coming out with make-believe testimonies just to mislead the Gambian people. If what Sanna Sabally said is true we (victims’ families) are challenging him to produce the list he said contained their names.”

Awa Njie, widow of late Abdoulie Dot Faal said their love ones were only killed based on mere suspicion that has no considerable evidence to back, describing November 11 as date the state sponsored terror to Killed Dot Faal and his colleagues in the army.

“I want to thanks the TRRC for exposing the records and bringing out   the ways and manners in which our husbands were killed. What we (victims’ families) are seeking is only justice   and also to see that perpetrators pay their price for killing our love ones”, Awa Njie demanded.

Frankly, she pointed out that victims’ families are in no position to forgive Sanna Sabally and Edward Singhateh for killing their husbands, adding that the biggest insult was for Edward Singhateh to stand in front of all Gambians to beg forgiveness from victims without admitting his responsibilities.

“We are very disappointed with Sanna Sabally and Edward Singhateh for misleading the TRRC as well as their reluctance to admit their responsibilities before the commission. We (victims’ families) will never forgive the two until the men show regret and accept their wrongdoings”, said Mbaya Demba widow of late Gibril Seye.
