AFPRC 2 Denies Role in Koro Ceesay’s Assassination

Second vice chairman of the defunct Armed Forces Provisional Ruling Council has denied his involvement in the assassination of the former finance minister Ousman Koro Ceesay after 24-years.

Edward Singhatey is being implicated in committing human crimes and violations by witnesses testified before the Commission, made the disclaim while testifying before the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission on Monday.

“Sir, there is so many things wrong with that…. I completely denied Sir,” Singhatey disclaimed, and said he went home straight after seeing off former president Yahaya Jammeh at the airport, adding “I didn’t drop off at Yankuba Touray’s house. Sir I would believe he is mistaken.”

He denied going to Yankuba Touray’s house on Ousman Koro Ceeay’s assassination date as saying “yes sir they are mistaken not that night, Sir you can repeat it as 100 times I still maintain my position not that night.”

sAccording to him, he said that he last saw Mr Koro Ceesay at the airport when they went to see off former president Yahya Jammeh, adding that he was informed the following date by the then secretary general-Mustapha Wadda that Ousman Koro Ceesay had died.

He also denied the allegation of threat of kill to Ousman Koro Ceesay saying “there is no truth in that…there is no single truth in that’ adding the council didn’t hide any information from him.

He said civilians believed that Ousman Koro Ceesay was killed by the soldiers, which he said “because Dippa Kunda was a strong hold of the PPP party” and that a postmoterm was later conducted.
