Gambia’s WASSCE results better this year-Says PS Sisawo

 

The West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) results in The Gambia this year are relatively twice better than last year, revealed, Ebrima Sisawo Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary School

He  revealed on Wednesday  that 2, 797 candidates scored 5 credits or more this year, representing 21% compared to 2, 121 (15%) in 2018.

“The number of candidates qualifying for University entrance also doubled over last year’s figures,” he said.

Sisawo said there is significant improvement for both English and Mathematics with 1401 candidates scoring credits in English whilst 2548 candidates have credits in Mathematics. He added that only 9.8% failed completely compared to 14.9% in 2018.

He congratulates the three candidates from Nusrat Senior Secondary School who scored 8As and 7As respectively.

PS also reiterates the stiff competition from the rural schools particularly Essau and Nemasu Senior Secondary Schools.
