Sukutarian Dismayed Salagi Forest Mortgaged to the Chinese

The community of Sukuta is totally dismayed and dumbfounded to see their forest the only reserved land to be mortgaged to the Chinese!

In a letter made available to The Voice by concern Sukutarian said that: “This is an insult to our community, the Gambia as a nation and frustrating efforts to preserve and protect the flora and fauna as well as mitigate the impact of climate change in the country.”

“We register our total disappointment to the letter written to the Solicitor General by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Environment, climate Change and Natural Recourses. We are sad indeed that people who serve as custodians of our resources and ecosystem can mortgage our forest to poor Chinese who are only out to loot and exploit our land and resources,”

Concern Sukutarian added that: “We the people of Sukuta categorically stand against this decision and will do everything at our limits to ensure that the decision is rescinded and Chinese stay out of our forest and land. Never Again to land grabbing and lets our leaders think Gambia first before anything.  We the people renewed our commitment that we are going and we will go out and will never relent until our forest is restored. The case in Faraba will be a foregone conclusion,”
