Asturies for Africa Association inaugurate boreholes in Essau, Kerr Malick Sarr

Asturies for Africa Association has official inaugurated boreholes project in Essau Nema /Jidda and Kerr Malick Sarr in the North Bank Region recently.

Essau Nema /Jidda project worth 8, 500 Euro while Kerr Malick Sarr project cost donor worth 7000 Euro

Speaking at the ceremony Abdulrahman T. Bangura managing director Asturies for Africa Association, said that Asturies for Africa Association is a small charitable organization which was established in 2008.

He disclosed that over the years his organization has executed successful projects throughout the Gambia and areas of intervention are education and   health sectors.

He added that the first project established by organization was a nursing school in Aljamdou t and later progress to Ndungu Kebbeh and they have established great support or links in many schools across the country.

He noted that Essau has been the major beneficiary in health and each time they cross the river they see the needs in health sector of the community adding that they have provided Essau a scanning machine which help many women in North Bank to know their status without crossing to Banjul and also reduce the maternal mutual death rate.

 Oscar Sainz Baizan, president Asturies for Africa Association said they decided    come together with one big heart of all human races to contribute and improves lives in the areas of water and education.

He assured the community of their continues supports and urged them to take good care of the boreholes.

Muhammed Lamin Njie, Alkalo of Essau said the community is very grateful for the support and hope that the partnership will continue.

He urged the community to take good care of the taps. He commended Asturies for Africa Association for   proving them borehole.

Jose Del Palacio Jamrit Charge De affairs’ Spanish Counsel to the Gambia commended the great work done by Asturies for Africa Association for the communities.

According to him, 1500 Spanish are permanent resident in the Gambia and they are striving hard for the betterment of the country.

Matarr Jeng national assembly member for Lower Niumi also commended Asturies for Africa Association for proving his community with water and investing in education.

He described water as essential and intergraded and a fundamental human right.

Pa Alagie Dem, Kerr Malick Sarr said before the coming of the project the community was facing difficulties to access water.

Mariama Sibo Bobb who speaks on behalf of the women’s of Kerr Malick Sarr said project came at the right time

Ebrima Bajang of NAWEC said NAWEC cannot do it alone, they need collective work and that is what they have achieved in Niumi.

He noted that the community have fresh and clean water but they have to pay their  bill after three months and anyone fail to pay will be disconnected. He urges them to report immediately when they suspect leakages.
