43rd Jalsa Salana: ‘Gov’t is Deeply Committed to Secularism’

Ebrima Sillah, Minister of information Communication Infrastructure, said government of The Gambia is deeply committed for the secularism as enshrined in the Constitution.

He pointed out that government has recognized the significant role Ahmadiyaa Muslim Jama’at The Gambia is playing in the country, in the areas of education, health and agriculture.

Sillah was speaking during opening ceremony of 43rd Jalsa Salana (Annual Convention) of Ahmadiyaa Muslim Jama’at The Gambia at Masroor Senior Secondary School, Old Yundum, on 26-28, 2019.

According to him, Jama’at is into education molding the hearts and mind of the future generation, into health by providing essential service to the Gambians.

“You are law abiding citizen by spreading the message of peace and communal harmony, in a world where some religious groups are using this peaceful religion sanction people with mass killings of innocent people, Ahmadiyaa Muslim Jama’at worldwide is building bridges in preaching peace, love and tolerance,” Sillah told the Ahmadiyaa Muslim Jama’at.

He explained that government of the Gambia sees Ahmadiyaa Muslim Jama’at The Gambia as true partners in nation building, while assuring them government willingness to work together for the betterment of country.

Baba Trawally, Amir of Ahmadiyaa Muslim Jama’at The Gambia quoted the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi (AS) by saying: “Do not to consider the gathering to be the same as other ordinary, worldly gatherings. Rather the case of this is such, which it is founded upon the pure support of truth and the propagation of Islam.

The foundation stone of this community has been laid by Allah Almighty himself, and such nations have been prepared that will soon come and enter its folds. This is because the work of that all-powerful being, for whom, nothing is impossible”

Imam Mahdi went further to says that: “The key purpose of this convention, is to enable every sincere individual, to personally experience religious benefit, to broaden their knowledge and to deepen their understanding of Allah Almighty, by the grace and opportunity given by him…. One advantage is that meeting their friends will broaden their circle of brotherhood and it will strengthen the mutual ties”

“This gathering will be devoted to the exposition of such truths and spiritual insights as are necessary for the promotion of faith, certainty and spiritual understanding. Moreover, there will be specific prayers and attention given to participants and we shall endeavor to the best of our capabilities, to supplicate at the threshold of the most Merciful, that he may draw them towards himself, accept them and bring about pious change within them”

Amir Trawally explained that during these three days they will spend their time in the worship of Allah Almighty, supplicating his name and also sending his blessing to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

“We should aim to derive maximum benefit from this gathering since we gather here just for the sake of Allah Almighty,” he said.
