Nigerians in Gambia Inaugurates New Executive

Nigerian community the Gambia on Friday 29 March inaugurated new executive to steer the affairs of it citizens held at a local Hotel.

Today, in the Gambia Nigerian work in various areas ranging from the commerce sector, education, health and others field.

At the community recent congress a new executive was elected and this  includes; Dr. Chima Ochuolu as President, Joel Odiahi as vice President, Great Akah,  Secretary General, Madam Linda Ebhodagbe Treasurer, Mrs. Arike Kasali  Director of Social, Frederick Pius  assistant Director of Social, Nwambu Nwanne Joseph as Provost, Shiloh C.  Nwankpa as Auditor General, Ikem Okpara PRO, Chibuzo Enwerem Financial Secretary.

Representing Nigerian High Commissioner to the Gambia, Eche Abu- Obe, minister of Political and Economic Desk at the Nigerian High Commission, commended Nigerians for their tremendous efforts in structuring themselves in the Gambia, noting the secretariat will enable them to know one another and foster cordial relationship among them.

“The commission is operating on open door policy in term of resolution Nigerians issue; therefore, feel free to lay your cases to us as the commission is open for you [Nigerians],” Obe said.

Royal Highness Hrhoba Moshood K.B Abolode Ariwajoye 1, King of Yoruba Community in The Gambia expressed delight on the inaugural ceremony, saying the leadership will not be easy for the new executive because their work is challenging and need lots of efforts to ensure the development of their secretariat.

He urged them to work to the best of their abilities, noting if anyone works to expectation for a community the masses will judge person according to the service delivered to them.

“Don’t put in mind that you are going to work to gain something but have the concept that you are working to serve humanity. Whether you are right or wrong people will judge you but don’t mind them just be focused,” he said.

Prince Uzodinma Chris Jukpor, outgoing President expressed optimism that the secretariat in The Gambia will attain its aspirations as long as they are collectively striving harder to ensure the development of their secretariat.

He commended participants for attending the inaugural ceremony while urged them to cooperate with the new executive so as to accomplish the sustainable development goals they are yearning for.

Speaking on his achievement, he revealed that his administration   paid D6.7 million owed by Nigerian International School in the Gambia owed, adding that the money was paid to secured the School from the Gambia High Court because it was seized for that amount by the court.
