GAM-DJ AWARDS SIGNS MOU WITH NCAC

Friends Planet Entertainment organisers of maiden Gambia DJ Awards has signed an memorandum of understanding (MOU)  National Centre for Arts and Culture (NCAC) recently in Banjul.

During the signing ceremony, Acting Director General of NCAC Hassoum Ceesay said that he welcomes the award event and NCAC is willing to support and partner with this great initiative.

Mr. Ceesay said the NCAC shall facilitate and guide the smooth operation of Friends Planet Entertainment businesses including its documentation, initiatives and program of activities in the interest of national cultural development.

“The parties shall also partner to implement activities targeted at the development of Gambian culture and entertainment within the Friends Planet Entertainment infrastructures, this MOU serves to specify the roles and obligations of the two institutions towards the realization of this cooperation’’

He explained that the MOU shall cover a period of three years starting from the date of signatories and can be renewed by mutual consent, conditional on the absence of disputes and the achievement of satisfactory results to both parties.

Mamour M Mbenga alias Kifa Barham,  Chief Executive Officer of Friends Planet Entertainment   said that the main goal of the Gam DJ Awards is to engage the youths to realize there potentials in order not to venture into the illegal migration (back way) syndrome.

Mr. Mbenga said that the backbone of this project is ‘Saving Lives at Sea’ Mbenga who is known in the music industry as a prominent event planner also reveals the importance of the event.

‘’The platform will also bring all the DJ’s together under one umbrella to make sure they work as a team in order to tackle challenges within their work environment’’.

He said the Award will be organized annually by partnering with various stakeholders in order to make it successful.

Ousainou Mboob, the Manager of Friends Planet Entertainment said that the executive’s board will nominate various DJ’s that work within the media fraternity including club DJ’s and Newcomers.

Mboob further added that the board will also recognize and honor Life Time Achievement Awards to veteran DJ’s who have contributed immensely to the development of the entertainment industry.

He said that the ceremony will be a nationwide project that will include various Dj’s across the seven regions within the country. He said the preparation of the project has started since last year October and is expected to take place at the end of this year.
