Qatar to train 12 Gambians in Cyber-crime, anti-corruption

The government of Qatar is currently funding training of 12 Gambian candidates from the Ministry of Justice, the Police and Judiciary to undergo training in cybercrime and anti-corruption in Qatar.

This was revealed by the Minister of Justice Abubacarr Tambadou during the visit of Dr. Ali Bin Fetais Al Marri, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice of the State of Qatar.

The Qatari envoy was on Friday at State House and discussed with the Gambian leader. Qatar   recently provided $3 Million grant toward the Gambia’s transitional justice process. The Gambian Justice Minister who also visited Qatar as a special envoy of President Adama Barrow praised the efforts of Qatar towards The Gambia.

Minister Tambadou said The Gambia cannot cater for all the different mechanisms that were engaged as part of the country’s transitional justice process, revealing that Qatar has been extremely helpful country in many sectors.

He commended the Attorney General visit, noting that it also to further demonstrate the continuous commitment of Qatar to The Gambia as and navigates the very difficult transitional period… to see Gambia’s success in the transition from dictatorship to democracy.

The Qatari delegation was accompanied to the State House by the Gambia’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Momodou Tangara. They held closed door discussions with President Barrow and the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Aboubacarr Tambadou.

In his meeting with his guest, the President expressed appreciation the delegation for  the support Qatar continues to provide to The Gambia. He assured them of the support of The Gambia government to the Emir and the people of Qatar, maintaining that The Gambia will continue to be friends.
