Tabital Pulaagu Mbo Gambia Congress Set for Saturday

Tabital Pulaagu Mbo Gambia, a nonpolitical association will hold its first congress to select executive members on 9th February, at The Banjul Independence Stadium in Bakau.

According to officials, the association was established in 2000 and registered officially in 2007 with Attorney General Chambers under the Ministry of Justice and it is a voluntary and non-political organization.

The aim of the association is to provide the necessary guidance, eradicate discrimination, suspicious and jealousy among members of different Fula ethnic groups, namely; Torodo, Fulla Kunda, and Fullbeh Futa among others.

This was disclosed to Journalists on Wednesday during a press briefing organized by officials at the Friendship Hostel at in Bakau.

President of Tabital Pulaagu Mbo Gambia, Omar Sompo Ceesay, said    organization primary concern is to bring together Fula ethnic groups under one umbrella to reserve and strengthen cultural and tradition.

The former URR governor also said part of their mandate is to create a linkage of partnership ensuring a good relationship between Gambia Fulanis  and other Fula’s in the sub-region, adding that Saturday congress will be the association first congress.

According to him, the congress will draw five delegates from each district to elect the first executive of the organization and the executive will be in office for four years.

“To be part of the executive, we need   educated people to represent the association at national and international level, we calls on Fulas to come out and take part in the event”, he pointed out.

He disclosed that the Gambian leader Adama Barrow family is expected to grace the congress.

Public Relation Officer, Alieu Jallow stressed significant of tribe and call  Fula’s to come out in their large numbers to make the forum successful and also promote Fula culture and tradition.
