Gambians Urge President Barrow ‘to step down after 3 years’

Cross sections of Gambians have urged President Adama Barrow to hand over power after his 3 years as they stated that since he came into power ‘nothing meaningful has taken place’.

President Barrow, who came in power under the ticket of a seven party and an independent which led to the downfall of the exiled ex-president Jammeh.

Speaking to some folks included, Matarr Njie, a native of Bundung said: “there are still a lot of changes that is needed to be done. Gambians hoped he had plans for the nation that was why we voted for change but the president is not delivering to our expectations for over 2 years now.”

He however, commended him for only freedom of expression which he said Gambians never had such opportunity to freely express their thoughts but on that, now they could do so.

Mrs Juma Sowe Jobarteh who also expressed in dismay said that President Barrow needs to construct more roads for Gambians as she said: “our children always get to school late because of insufficient roads”

She added that Gambians are faced with lot of challenges and difficulties in areas like feeding and that the government should bring down the prices of commodities such as foodstuffs in the market industry.

However, she said that Gambians never had the chance to talk freely but on that, now Gambians can express themselves freely.

She added that President Barrow made a good move on the new bridge called Trans -Gambia Bridge which has a great impact on Gambians.

Bully Sah, a businessman said: “The Gambia has its own constitution which says that the term of office for presidency is 5 years but we voted for 3 years and for a better Gambia,”

He urged President Barrow to honour the 3 years MOU with the coalition leaders while Mrs. Jobarteh also echoed similar remarks.
