Belgian Friends Donates Medical Items to Boost S/K, Bulock Health Facilities

Belgian Friends of Bulock Village (BFoBV) in West Coast Region based in Belgium are currently distributing medical materials within health facilities in Kanifing Municipality and West Coast Region.

The beneficiary health facilities include: Bulock Health Post and Serekunda Health Center while some medicaments were sent to the Regional Health Team Office in West Coast Region for onward distribution to other health facilities with the region.

Speaking to our reporter after Serekunda Health Center’s presentation, the founder and member of the Belgian Friends of Bulock Village (BFoBV), Mr. Luc Bauters and Mr. Stefan Farens hailed the staff of the health center for their tireless efforts in providing quality health services to the people of The Gambia.

“We are here to always provide something for our Gambian friends and we are much thankful to the Government and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in particular for giving us the opportunity to deliver these medical items to health facilities in the country,” Mr. Bauters and Mr. Farens said.

According to them, the donation of medical items to The Gambia is part their association’s efforts to improve health sector in the country, saying that they will continue to do more.

The duo informed the health personnel that they have a village in Belgium called “Evergen village” who promised to pay the salary for a nurse at Bulock Health Post for one year and another village in Belgium also called “Assenede village” are also willing to sponsor a garden project in Bulock village for one year too.

For her part, the Officer-In-Charge (OIC) Serekunda Health Center, Madam Fatou Cham described the donation as timely, adding that the items will go a long way in easing some of the drug problems within the health center.

Madam Cham promised the donors that the items will be used for its intended purposes, while underscored the roles their Belgian friends are playing in the country’s health sector for the past years.

Tumani Bojang, Belgian Friends of Bulock Village (BFoBV) Gambian counterpart also a native of Bulock village in Foni Berefet District expressed his gratitude to his Belgian friends for what he called “their timely intervention”.

The medicaments according to Belgian friends of The Gambian counterpart, Tumani Bojang were off-loaded from a 40-feet container.

According to Bojang, the support his friends are rendering to the health sector in the country will go a long way in complementing the government’s effort to promoting the welfare of Gambians and non-Gambians in the country.
