Alhagie Kanteh, retired captain of the Gambia National Army has told the Truth Reconciliation and Reparation Commission on Monday at the Dunes hotel that the AFPRC chairman Yahya Jammeh was a bravado and unpredictable individual.

Mr. Kanteh, 55 said: “You cannot predict him…he’s bravado and he lies a lot. He wants people to like him. Yahya Jammeh was not taking orders from Gambian and Nigerian forces.”

“I found Sanna to be immature and economical with the truth. Edward was a savage. He likes to inflict pain in people. Yankuba was a clown and bootlicker, Sadibu was misfit,” he added.

He also told the commission that during their detention at Mile two that touring was done by all the junta men except Yahya Jammeh and that they (detainees) were subjected to physically and mentally torture.

“On this day something terrible happened…nobody can forget that. We were attacked by a group of soldiers who came and tortured us physically and mentally. All the junta men came except Yahya Jammeh,” he said.

He further told the commission that he and ex-captain Ebrima Kambi, and ASP Alieu Ndure, and Sheriff Mbye were put under maximum security at the Mile two.

He said: “They went to Mamad Cham’s cell and tight him and dragged him. You could hear him pleading ‘you are hurting me’ and suddenly gunshots were heard. They came back again and Singhateh with   a blood on his hand and he said we have first causality.”

“The Junta said is enough for the execution for the night and we will come back. This thing look like Edward Singhateh’s game. He was making the talking,” he added.
