Magassy Applauds Gov’t For infrastructural development in URR

Hon. Muhammed Magassy, National Assembly member for Basse Constituency has applauded the government for approving such a grant meant to boast the infrastructural development of the Upper River Region (URR).

On 15th December, President Adama Barrow laid the foundation stones for Basse-Fatoto-Koina Road and Bridges project in URR of the Gambia was funded by the People’s Republic of China.

President Barrow, also laid the foundation stone of a Teachers Training College in Basse.

Immediately, after the laying of the foundation stone, Magassy told The Voice newspaper that he is applauding the National Assembly for approving such a grant meant to boast the infrastructural development of the region.

He commended President Barrow for the wise decision taken to improve the lots of the rural people.

Recalling the challenges faced by his peoples before this project, the independent assembly member said, lack of Infrastructure has affected the enrollment levels in schools, creates difficulties in reaching health centers during emergencies as well as retard trade and economic activities in the region among others

Magassy revealed that traveling in this part of the country for decades after independence has always been a nightmare for the people of the region.

He added that these new projects will surely alleviate these constraints faced by his people thus promoting economic prosperity.

Seedy SK Njie, a stunt supporter of Barrow administration said such a project has never been implemented in the rural part of The Gambia by any administration in The Gambia since independence.

According to him, President Barrow has lived by his words that he will bring unprecedented development to the peoples of The Gambia, adding that the laying of the foundation stones for bridges and roads will attract meaningful socioeconomic development for the people of URR and beyond. Thus it will facilitate free movement of goods and services in the sub region especially between The Gambia and Senegal.

Njie said that the teachers training college will reduce load on Gambia College, reduce rural-urban drift therefore, improving the social well being of the people of URR

The former Information Minister calls on Gambians to give all supports to President Barrow for the development of the country, adding that Gambian people should expect more development from the leadership of President Barrow.
