APRC Stalwart Urges Barrow to ‘Step down after 3 years’

A high political figure of the opposition party APRC has urged the Gambian leader to relinquish power after serving three years in governing the country since ‘no development has taken place during his regime.’

Jerrehnding Sanyang made the comments in an exclusive interview with The Voice in Lamin Village, adding that he {president} should honor the gentlemen agreement he signed with the other members of the coalition.

President Barrow who led an eight party coalition in the 2016, presidential election that brought the downfall of The Gambian’s two long decade’s ruler Yahya Jammeh.

“President Barrow should step down at three years according to the MOU he signed. There will be no second chance for him because he doesn’t have any leadership experience. If he refuses to step down and chooses to stay in power, he will be classified as a rebel,” Mr. Sanyang said.

He said Barrow-led government can’t even pay salaries to its civil servants.  He then added that “there are a lot of donors from different countries but still nothing is been made or developed from it; in that case, where is the money?”

He also cited the death of Haruna Jatta who was gunned down in the village of ex-president Jammeh-who was protesting for the removal of ECOMIG soldiers in the village.

According to him, there are more security lapses now as compared to the past regime of ex-president Jammeh; adding that the cabinet Ministers are junketing the country’s money.

Mr. Sanyang also blamed the presidency for offering bribe to Gambian lawmakers, by saying that all those MPs who were involved in receiving the money should resign “because they are not serving the interest of the people, and they are incompetent as well as incapacitated.”

However, he said: “Jammeh is coming back. We are going for a congress and we are going to put him as our flag bearer.”
