TAF UNVEILS D1.7M INITIATIVE FOR YOUNG GAMBIANS

TAF Africa Global has introduced its startups competition 2018 initiative to engage young entrepreneurs in a bid to help develop their capacities.

“We are born Gambians and we are proud of being part of The Gambia, so we have several initiatives as part of our vision to give back to our communities that have given us so much,” Ousainou Sosseh, the regional manager told journalists yesterday at TAF Africa Global head office at Brusubi.

He added that TAF is not just limited to selling of houses.

“That’s why we have the TAF Africa foundation and under the foundation, there are several initiatives that we do as a way to give back to the youths and other parts of the community what they have invested in us so much over the years.”

Mr. Sosseh explained that the initiatives of TAF Start-ups came at a time when youths needed avenues for their ideas.

“We had several interests especially from the youths and young entrepreneurs that has really commended us for what we are trying to do, because they should have needed this support for a long time and they feel that this is the right initiatives that complements their dreams,” he said.

He further added that 60 percent of The Gambia’s population is less than 30 years old.

“We also know that the private sector is the driving factor for every economy. We want to merge these two, by finding a way to give all these young entrepreneurs a platform or avenue to support their businesses in giving this million dalasi as a prize won.”

According to him, the prizes of the competition are how we would be able to help the businesses of young entrepreneurs.

He then noted that, “We have deposited 1, 750,000m dalasi that will be given to three winners. The top winner will get one million dalasi; follow by the second prize of D500, 000; and third prize will receive D250, 000,”

“We think that this is a lot of money that will go a long way in supporting businesses and accomplishing their dreams.”
