Turkish Airlines to Connect Gambia with The World

As It Keeps Its Expansion in Africa

The Turkish Airlines has been identified as an airline that will further connect The Gambia through the hub of Istanbul with the rest of the world. The Ambassador of Turkey to The Gambia made this pronouncement Monday morning on the 26th of November, 2018 at the inaugural ceremony of the Turkish Airlines maiden flight to The Gambia held at the VIP Lounge of the Gambia International Airport.

Ambassador Ismail Sefa Yuceer, who received the maiden flight and passengers at the foot of the Airport, expressed delight as the flight from Istanbul to Banjul by Turkish Airlines has become a reality. With utmost believe, he said, the “direct flights will not only increase interactions between the people of both countries and business relationship of Turkey and The Gambia but will also further connect The Gambia through the hub of Istanbul with the rest of the world.”

The Ambassador stated that decision of the Turkish Airlines regarding the direct flights from Istanbul to Banjul has demonstrated the value and importance Turkey attaches to its relationship with The Gambia. He went further that the instruction and support of the Turkish President, HE Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the launched flights to the destination “was decisive as his approach on the issue has been a reflection on the general positive outlook of Turkey with respect to the cooperation with the African continent as a whole.”

As number of flight frequency to destination Gambia has already hit 57 per week, with believe, he said, the commencement of a twice a-week flight by the Turkish Airlines would further attract new partners to the market and contribute to the development of the tourism sector extensively.

Kemesseng Jammeh, Ambassador of The Gambia to Turkey thanked the president of The Gambia together with the officials of the Turkish Airlines for making the direct flights to Banjul a reality. He said the Turkish Airlines is an invaluable extension to the aviation network.

He stated that the inaugural airline is paramount as it will support the people’s connectivity, boost trade, investment and tourism.

As the inauguration marked important occasion in the history of time tested relationship, cooperation between the two countries rooted in the history and common interest of their people, Ambassador Kemesseng, therefore, congratulated Turkish Airlines on this yet another impressive addition to their widely global network.

He went further that Turkish Airlines business in The Gambia will grow stronger because it will help people to people connectivity in term of investment and tourism while number of tourists visiting the Gambia will significantly increase.

Abdoullahi Jammeh, Director General of GCAA, Kerem Sarap, also Turkish Airlines Senior Vice President of Sales, and Hon Ebrima Camara, Secretary General Head of Civil Service, all made speeches at the inaugural ceremony.
