Lady Councilor assures Women Participation in Constitutional Review

Madam Sinchu Bah, lady councilor for Wuli East District has assured the members of the Constitutional Review Commission and National Council for Civic Education of her district’s women participation in review process of the 1997 Constitution of the country.

She made the assurance in an exclusive interview with The Voice after a consultation meeting held at Gunjur Koto village in Wuli East, URR.

“We will partake in the process because the womenfolk through-out the country have lesser space in our current Constitution and this is an opportunity for Gambians women which Wuli East women are not an exception to take part in the process,” she said.

Meanwhile, she called on Gambian women to come and participate in the reviewing constitution for national development despite their political affiliation, ethnic and geographical locations.

However, she commended the officials for what she described “timely consultation” with Gambians about reviewing the Constitution.

She said: The Consultation process is very educative promising that there is need for all efforts to be on desk in order to make sure that Gambians get better Constitution that would move the country forward.”

She further said the women of Wuli East would at anytime be willing to participate in reviewing the constitution.
