The Gambia’s U-20 national team, the Young Scorpions, have intensified preparations for the WAFU-A U-20 qualifying tournament for the CAF Africa Cup of Nations, with the squad continuing its training programme in Faraba Bantang.
Head coach Abdoulie Bojang and his technical team conducted another training session on Tuesday at the Dimphy’s Memorial Football Complex, focusing on tactical organisation, ball movement and the team’s approach to the competition.
With the tournament in Mali approaching, the technical team is using the remaining preparation period to improve coordination within the squad and assess the players ahead of the qualifiers.
The training sessions are also allowing the coaching staff to work on different tactical options and strengthen the team’s understanding of its playing system.
The Young Scorpions are expected to travel to Bamako, Mali, where they will compete against other West African teams for qualification to the next stage of the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The identity of The Gambia’s opponents will be known on Thursday at 1 p.m., when the official WAFU-A U-20 tournament draw is scheduled to take place in Bamako.
The technical team and players will then begin preparations based on their group opponents as they seek to secure qualification for the continental competition.
