The leader of the United Gambia Front (UGF), Bakary K. Badjie, has pledged to provide what he described as a new generation of honest leadership if elected president in the 2026 presidential election.
Speaking at the launch of the party’s nationwide “Listen to the People” campaign at the UGF headquarters in Mariama Kunda Junction, Badjie said his movement would pursue an inclusive approach to governance based on accountability, integrity and public participation.
He said many politicians make promises which they fail to fulfil, while his commitment was to listen to Gambians before making policy decisions.
“The Gambia has enormous potential, but corruption and poor leadership have denied many people the opportunity to build a better future,” he said, adding that his ambition was to provide honest leadership focused on the national interest.
Badjie said consultations with teachers, farmers, fishermen, market women, gardeners and young people across the country had shown that citizens wanted a government that listened to their concerns and improved their living conditions.
He pledged that a UGF administration would prioritize transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.
The UGF leader also promised to strengthen efforts to combat corruption by ensuring that audit reports on government institutions and agencies were acted upon promptly.
He further pledged to implement measures aimed at restoring young people’s confidence in the country’s future through skills training programs and access to loan facilities to support entrepreneurship.
