Three young men have been granted bail of D150,000 each by the Brusubi Magistrates’ Court after they were jointly charged with being in possession of suspected stolen property (goat).
The accused persons: Modou Sey, Musa Fofana and Addy Saine—appeared before Principal Magistrate Mam Samba Jallow on Monday, October 5, 2026, and pleaded “not guilty” to the charge.
The three were jointly charged under Section 276(1) of the Criminal Offences Act 2025.
According to the particulars of the charge, the accused persons were alleged to have been jointly found on August 13, 2026, at Old Yundum in the West Coast Region, in possession of a she-goat in a private Mercedes-Benz C-Class motor vehicle bearing registration number WCR 2975C.
The charge sheet stated that the property was suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.
The charge was read and interpreted to the accused persons, who indicated that they understood it before entering pleas of not guilty.
Inspector Alasana Jamanka, appearing on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, announced his appearance before the court and applied for an adjournment to enable the prosecution to call its witnesses.
The prosecution did not object to bail for the accused persons.
Principal Magistrate Jallow granted the prosecution’s application and adjourned the case to October 14, 2026.
The court granted each accused person bail in the sum of D150,000, with two Gambian sureties required for each accused. The sureties are required to provide valid national identity cards or passports to the court registrar.
The three accused persons were unable to meet the bail condition and they were all sent to Mile II. The matter will return to court on October 14 for further proceedings.
