Gambian goalkeeper Omar Keita has joined Sierra Leonean side Star Sports Academy on a five-year contract after leaving Gambia Football Federation (GFF) First Division champions Medina United.
Keita played an important role in Medina United’s championship-winning campaign before completing the move to Star Sports Academy.
The long-term agreement underlines the Sierra Leonean club’s confidence in the Gambian goalkeeper as he begins a new chapter in his career.
The move comes shortly after Medina United and Star Sports Academy faced each other in the preliminary round of the CAF competition.
The first leg ended in a goalless draw, while Star Sports Academy secured a 1-1 draw in the return leg to advance on the away-goals rule.
Keita will now compete for a regular starting position at Star Sports Academy as he seeks to gain further experience and develop his career outside The Gambia.
His move also gives the Gambian goalkeeper an opportunity to compete in a new football environment after helping Medina United secure the domestic league title.
