The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) on Wednesday handed over eight new four-wheel-drive double-cabin pick-up trucks to the country’s seven Regional Football Associations (RFAs) and the Women’s Football Unit to strengthen grassroots football development.
The vehicles were presented during a ceremony at Football House in Kanifing presided over by GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo.
Speaking at the event, Bajo described the handover as another milestone for Gambian football, saying the vehicles would improve mobility, facilitate the organisation of football activities and enhance the operational capacity of the regional associations and the Women’s Football Unit.
He said the initiative forms part of the federation’s long-term strategy to equip its football structures with the resources needed to promote football development across the country.
According to the GFF, the eight vehicles—one for each of the seven Regional Football Associations and one for the Women’s Football Unit—were procured through FIFA’s Forward 3.0 Programme.
Bajo also expressed appreciation to Asata Investment for delivering the vehicles within the agreed timeframe.
A representative of Asata Investment thanked the GFF for awarding the company the contract and said the latest-model vehicles were designed to operate efficiently in all parts of the country.
The GFF said the vehicles are expected to improve the delivery of football programmes and strengthen administrative and logistical support for regional and women’s football activities nationwide.
