A group of supporters of the Gambia Action Party (GAP) has called on Gambians to support the party’s leader, Musa Ousainou Yali Batchilly, describing him as a leader capable of delivering transformational leadership ahead of the 2026 presidential election.
Speaking in an interview with The Voice, Alieu Badara Faal, who said he was representing GAP youth supporters, argued that The Gambia required leadership focused on national development, accountability and inclusive governance rather than conventional politics.
He says the country is at a critical stage in its political development and requires leadership that places the interests of citizens above political considerations.
According to Faal, Batchilly has presented a vision centred on accountability, national unity, youth empowerment, economic opportunities and people-centred governance.
He says investment in young people remains central to the party’s development agenda.
“Our youths deserve opportunities, our women deserve empowerment, and every Gambian deserves a government that serves with integrity, purpose and compassion,” Faal remarked.
He added that the 2026 presidential election should be viewed as an opportunity to shape the country’s long-term future rather than merely determining who governed over the next five years.
Faal described Batchilly as representing “a new generation of visionary leadership” committed to building what he called “a prosperous, united and dignified Gambia.”
He called on Gambians to support the GAP leader’s vision, saying the party remained committed to addressing the socio-economic challenges facing the country while placing national interest above personal and political considerations.
The remarks reflect the views of GAP supporters and come as political parties continue positioning themselves ahead of The Gambia’s presidential election scheduled for December 2026.
