Deputy Service Chiefs and their respective Chiefs of Operations have met at The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) Headquarters to review the country’s security situation and strengthen coordination among the sister security services.
The security coordination meeting, held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, was chaired by the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Sait Njie.
The meeting reviewed the prevailing security situation, ongoing joint security operations and measures aimed at improving cooperation among the various security services.
Key discussions focused on operational readiness, coordinated deployments and information sharing, as well as strengthening security presence to protect lives, property and critical national infrastructure.
The meeting also considered the implementation of the ongoing joint security operation, with participants stressing the importance of personnel from the different services working collectively and professionally.
According to sources close to the meeting, security personnel were reminded of the need to operate in accordance with the law and established operational standards while carrying out their respective duties.
The gathering brought together the deputy heads of the security services and their operations chiefs as part of efforts to maintain closer operational coordination and ensure a more unified approach to security matters.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Deputy Service Chiefs reaffirmed their commitment to sustained cooperation and effective coordination among the services.
They also maintained that continued joint efforts remained important to maintaining peace, public order and security across the country.
