Two young Gambian players from Esohna Academy, Saikou Njie and Musa Jassy, have arrived in Sweden for a two-week trial with Swedish top-flight club IF Elfsborg.
The duo travelled from Banjul International Airport accompanied by Esohna Academy President Ebrima Sohna and have since arrived safely in Sweden ahead of the assessment.
IF Elfsborg compete in Sweden’s Allsvenskan, the country’s top-flight football league.
The trial will provide Njie and Jassy with an opportunity to train in a professional European environment and showcase their abilities to the club’s coaching and technical staff.
Their trip also represents another opportunity for Esohna Academy to expose its young players to higher-level football and international competition.
The players were accompanied to Banjul International Airport by the academy’s Sporting Director, identified as Malmö, who saw them off before their departure.
Njie and Jassy are expected to begin training with IF Elfsborg as they seek to impress the club’s technical team during their two-week trial.
