Abdoulie Jallow, who was arraigned before Magistrate K.B. Sambou of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 7, 2026, has been granted bail in the sum of D500,000.00 after pleading guilty to a charge of careless driving.
Jallow is facing a single count of careless driving, contrary to Section 51(1) of the Motor Traffic Act, Cap. 70:3, Volume 10, Revised Laws of The Gambia 2009.
Sub-Inspector A. Jallow represented the Inspector General of Police, while the accused appeared before the court without legal representation.
According to the particulars of the offence, Jallow, on or about June 13, 2026, at Yundum Village, between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., allegedly drove a Toyota commercial vehicle with registration number BJL 6834 Y without due care and attention, thereby committing an offence.
The charge sheet was read and explained to the accused in English and interpreted into Wolof, a language he told the court he understood. Jallow subsequently pleaded guilty to the charge.
However, Sub-Inspector Jallow applied for an adjournment, informing the court that the alleged accident resulted in serious injuries to a person who is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
He told the court that the medical report and other relevant certificates were required before the facts of the case could be properly presented.
Magistrate Sambou subsequently adjourned the matter to September 11, 2026, for further hearing while granting him bail in the sum of D500,000.00.
