Gambian international Yusupha Njie made a substitute appearance for Al Markhiya, who suffered a 5-0 defeat against Al Shamal in the Qatar Stars League (QSL) Cup on Wednesday.
Njie, who has represented The Gambia at international level, came off the bench as Al Markhiya struggled to contain their opponents in the cup encounter.
Despite the substitution, Al Markhiya failed to find a response against an Al Shamal side that dominated the match to secure a convincing victory.
The heavy defeat leaves Al Markhiya with a setback to overcome as they turn their attention to their upcoming fixtures in the competition.
For Njie, the appearance provided another opportunity to gain playing time and contribute to his club’s campaign.
