RDB Suffer Back-to-Back Defeats in Title Defence

Real De Banjul FC (RDB) have suffered consecutive defeats, casting doubt over their ambition to defend the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Men’s Division One title.

After last week’s loss to Bombada FC, the defending champions were hoping for a resurgence at home. However, Gambia Dutch Lions delivered a commanding 2-0 victory on RDB’s turf. Team captain Gibril Dampha opened the scoring with a well-placed finish before star striker Ibrahim Diallo doubled the advantage, looping the ball over the goalkeeper. The result extended Gambia Dutch Lions’ winning streak to three matches.

In other matches, Madina United were reduced to ten men in the early stages of the second half as they played out a goalless draw against Samger at the Late Ousman Saho Football Field in Old Yundum.

Meanwhile, in Brikama, the derby between Fortune FC and Bombada FC produced five goals in an entertaining encounter. Modou Lamin Jatta put Bombada ahead in the 24th minute, only for Fortune FC’s new signing Bangally Manneh to equalise. Salifu Jarju restored Fortune’s lead before half-time, but Abdoulie Camara’s close-range strike brought Bombada back on level terms. In stoppage time, Jatta converted a penalty to complete his brace and secure a 3-2 victory for Bombada, marking their second consecutive win over a top-tier side.
