The President of the Gambia Volleyball Federation (GVBF), Bai Dodou Jallow, has called on Gambians to support the national men’s indoor volleyball team as the country prepares to host the Zone II qualifiers for the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) Men’s African Volleyball Championship.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from 18 to 20 June 2026 and will bring together men’s national teams from several West African countries competing for qualification to the continental championship.
Speaking ahead of the event, Jallow expressed confidence in the national team and underscored the importance of home support during the competition.
He described the hosting of the tournament as an important milestone for volleyball development in The Gambia and urged the public to attend the matches and encourage the players.
Jallow also thanked the Government of The Gambia, sponsors, partners and members of the volleyball community for their support in facilitating the tournament.
The Gambian team will seek to take advantage of home conditions in its bid to secure a place at the CAVB Men’s African Volleyball Championship.
The three-day competition is expected to feature teams from across the West African region competing for qualification to the continental event.
