Kebba Fatty, a resident of Sibanor, on Monday appeared before Magistrate Kanjura B. Sambou at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on a charge of possession of prohibited drugs.
Fatty is charged with a single count under Section 35(2)(a) of the Drug Control (Amendment) Act 2014. Prosecutors allege that he was found in possession of 84 grammes of cannabis sativa on June 8, 2025, at Sibanor.
The charge was read and explained to the accused in Mandinka, a language he understands. He pleaded not guilty.
Chief Inspector M. Demba of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEA) applied for an adjournment to enable the prosecution’s first witness to testify.
The court granted the application and adjourned the case to March 31, 2026.
The accused was admitted to bail in the sum of D200,000 with two Gambian sureties, who are required to deposit valid national identity cards with the court registrar and provide proof of sufficient means to ensure his appearance.
