The Gunjur Sports Committee (GSC) has expressed deep concern over a violent incident involving supporters of two Nawettan football teams, which left a stakeholder seriously injured.
The Committee said it was “deeply concerned and disgusted” by the clash between supporters of Red Star F.C. and Kajabang, describing the incident as an “unfortunate” display of violence.
The altercation reportedly resulted in the serious injury of a member of Red Star F.C.
“We register our utter dismay at this unacceptable and unsporting behaviour. Such acts are barbaric and have absolutely no place in our cherished sporting culture, which is meant to promote unity, peace, and mutual respect,” the GSC said in a statement.
The Committee extended heartfelt sympathy to the injured victim and assured the public that an immediate investigation has been launched.
It added that appropriate actions will be taken to ensure that any individuals or teams found responsible for inciting violence are held fully accountable, reiterating that violence has no place in sports.
