Brikama Man Remanded For Stealing Aluminium Worth D25,000.00

A Brikama resident has been remanded at Mile 2 Central Prison after admitting to stealing aluminium valued at D25,000.00.

Saikou Keita, an adult Gambian, appeared before Magistrate K.B. Sambou of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 13th August 2025, charged with “stealing” contrary to Section 226 of the Criminal Offences Act, 2025 Laws of The Gambia.

According to the particulars of offence, on or about 11th August 2025 in Brikama Town, Kombo Central, West Coast Region, Keita stole a set of aluminium belonging to Malanding Fatty. The items were said to be worth D25,000.00

The court heard that the charge was read to Keita in Mandinka, his preferred language, and he pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting officer Sergeant 4812 J. Preirra, representing the Inspector General of Police, applied for an adjournment to present the facts of the case before sentencing.

Magistrate Sambou granted the application and adjourned the matter to 26th August 2025 for presentation of facts and sentencing.

Keita was ordered to be remanded at Mile 2 Prison pending the next hearing.
