The Daru Foday Ba community in Jokadou hailed KHALSA AID International UK for providing them with a borehole to address and ease the issue of drinkable in the community.
The support was facilitated by Africa Corps Volunteer networking, as part of mobilizing and supporting community projects. The team handed over a 500-liter water tank powered by solar and installation with 16 taps connected to homes and streets, within the village.
Marcus Lapsa of KHALSA AID International Lead Volunteer and Jevan Chaggar, a volunteer described the partnership with Africa Corps – Gambia Chapter as fundamental in providing support to communities.
The donation of the water system formed part of their support for Water 4 Africa while noting that the support will contribute to the living conditions of residents.
Kebba Barrow, a community leader thanked KHALSA AID International UK through Africa Corps for providing clean drinking water for the community. He assured that they would work with the water management committee to ensure effective utilization and sustainability of the water system.
Suwareh Jawara, a Women leader said the water system would greatly help the community, especially women and children, and reduce their water burden.
Lamin Gibba, a volunteer at KHALSA AID, and Khalipha Jabbie also a volunteer liaison officer at AFRICA Corps Gambia both underscored their commitment to the deployment of graduates from Colleges and Universities to serve communities.
