The Speaker of the National Assembly Fabakary Tombong Jatta (FTJ) has called for transparency, impartiality and professionalism in the on-going investigations into former President Yaya Jammeh’s assets.

It could be recalled that, The National Assembly resolved to set up a special committee to investigate the sale and disposal of the assets seized from former President Yahya Jammeh.

FTJ made the call during parliament’s second extra ordinary session. According to him, the appointment of special committee members is not only a call to duty but a solemn trust conferred upon them by the National Assembly and the people of The Gambia.

“This inquiry represents a critical pillar in our collective efforts to uphold accountability, safeguard public resources, and restore public confidence in governance,” he said “Given the sensitivity and significance of this matter in our national history, let the focus remain on facts, evidence, and due process—rising above political interests and public pressure,” he told the assembly members.

“I commend your unwavering dedication and commitment to duty, especially through your committee engagements in exercising your oversight mandate. I particularly wish to recognise the Honourable Members of the Special Select Committee established to investigate the sale and disposal of the assets and properties of former President Jammeh,” he added.
