ADD Party Leader Outlines Key Intervention Areas

Mr Malick Camara, the secretary general and party leader of the newly formed Alliance for Democracy and Development party, outlines key areas of his party’s intervention if elected into the presidency.

In an interview with The Voice on Saturday at his residence in Brufut, Mr. Camara seeks to address problems in areas such as agriculture, corruption, and security, among others.

Mr. Camara studied administration and management, human resource management, and research methods at Management Development Institute (MDI) before proceeding to the International College for Human Resources, where he studied advanced human resources and research. Currently, he is pursuing an LLB at the Faculty of Law at the University of The Gambia.

The Farafenni born politician said suck issues must be addressed for The Gambia to actualize its dreams for any meaningful development.

“After an intensive introspection, we have realised problems of agriculture, infrastructure, security, corruption, youth unemployment, education, and a lot more. These are raised to us by Gambians during our consultation with them. They are well aware of the issues affecting the country,” Mr Camara cited.

He stated that the wastage of agricultural products could be prevented and would generate income if the sector is modernised, adding that it could reduce the number of youths wanting to take up the irregular migration journey. He maintains that climate-smart agriculture generates a lot of revenue for other countries across the world, and his government will focus on such viable interventions for national interest.

Asked whether there’s any possibility for his party to join the ruling party if they are called, he vehemently dismissed that possibility, saying his party will never support a third bid by the President.

“We will never support President Barrow for a third term bid. We did not establish a political party to think about any ministerial, ambassadorial, or whatever favour. We want to succeed President Barrow in 2026,” stressed the ADD leader.

He calls on Gambian electorates to vote for the interest of the country during elections, stating that’s the only way to rescue the country.
