The Gambia Police Force has opened an investigation into the suspected murder of a 22-year-old woman in Bernabeh Village, Sandu District, Upper River Region.
According to a statement issued on May 20, 2025, by the police, the incident was first reported to the Criminal Investigation Department at the Basse Police Station. A team of investigators and forensic officers was quickly dispatched to the scene.
“The area has been secured and investigations are ongoing,” the police said, urging the public to remain calm and allow the inquiry to proceed.
While the cause of death is yet to be confirmed, the police have assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to uncover the facts and pursue justice.
The police say further updates will be shared as the investigation progresses.
Authorities are also encouraging anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist with the case.
