Ousman Drammeh on Wednesday appeared before Magistrate Touray at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on charges of obtaining money by false pretense.

According to the charge sheet, Ousman Drammeh, sometime in the year 2018, at Latrikunda, by false pretense and with the intent to defraud, obtained (D600,000.00) six hundred thousand dalasis from Mbemba Kebbeh and (D146,000.00) One hundred and forty-six thousand dalasis from one Musa Jack on the pretext that he(Ousman Drammeh) has the ability to secure an American Visa for them to travel to the United States, knowing or having reasons to believe that such representation was false or not true, thereby committed an offence.

Meanwhile, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges, stating that how the case happened and how it was written were totally different.

When it got to a stage for the accused to be granted bail or not, Prosecutor Keita did not oppose to the bail option saying the accused has been co-operating throughout the investigations. Therefore, the prosecutor believes that the accused will still be co-operative when given bail.

Consequently, Magistrate Touray granted Drammeh a bail of (D900, 000.00) nine hundred thousand Dalasiswith two Gambian Sureties.

The matter is adjourned to Monday 8th April at 12:00 pm.
