Accused Denies Theft Charges

One Badou Sey has denied allegations of stealing a mobile phone valued at D27,000.

He was arraigned before Magistrate Isatou Mbaye-Sallah of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on Monday, where he was charged with theft.

The charge sheet read that Badou in December of last year atCity Pub in Dippakunda stole a mobile phone marked iPhone XR valued at D27,000. The phone, according to the charge sheet, was the property of one Michael Jatta.

Following his denial of guilt, prosecutor N. Bojang sought an adjournment to enable him to marshall his witnesses.

The case was then adjourned to 21 March 2024 but to enable the accused to gain his liberty in the meantime, he was granted D40,000 court bail and must provide a Gambian surety as a bail requirement.
